Uusiin arkistolähteisiin perustuva teos tarkastelee Otto Wille Kuuista (1881-1964) ja hänen 1950- ja 1960-lukujen ajattelunsa paikkaa keskeisten marxilaisten virtausten joukossa. Tutkimus haastaa perinteiset käsitykset niin Kuusisesta poliittisena toimijana kuin teorian asemasta Nikita Hrushtshevin kauden Neuvostoliitossa.
